Mattel’s DC Club Infinite Earths Signature Collection The Flash III (Wally West)!

So yeah as you saw in my Return of Barry Allen: Clash in the Flash Museum photo I couldn’t wait and had to order one of those Wally West showing up on eBay. The actual release of Wally won’t be until May and yes, I plan on picking up the official version as well.

As for the figure itself, I think it is just about perfect. The head sculpt captures Wally’s expression and skin tone from back in the 90’s books perfectly and the suit itself is kind of a combination of the 90’s suit with a little bit of Justice League Unlimited thrown in there. You can see the JLU elements in the cowl wings while the rest is pure 90’s Flash. They even captured the metallic sheen that Flash sported throughout that period giving it a totally different vibe than the red and gold All-Star Barry Allen release from a couple of years back that a lot of people have been using as a stand-in.

Wally will represent the completion of the Grant Morrison-Era JLA (one of my personal favorite incarnations) and will be another addition to the Justice League Europe roster from the 90’s.

You can look forward to a few more comparison and action shots featuring Wally West in the next few days. May still can’t come soon enough.

“Nice Suit” featuring Custom Mego Wally West and Retro-Action DC Superheroes Barry Allen recreating a classic scene from The Flash v2 #74 by Mark Waid and Greg LaRocque. The storyline, The Return of Barry Allen, put The Flash, Mark Waid and Greg LaRocque on the map in DC and firmly cemented Wally West as The Flash of the 90s. Easily one of my favorite storylines from back then.

Finally Mattel gives us Wally West!

I can’t put into words how absolutely ecstatic I am over this. Finally something good to look forward to! I’m going to be wearing my Wally West Flash t-shirt all weekend. It features some excellent art by Greg LaRocque the artist who originally designed the suit that still has an influence even today (although I think Greg adapted the converging lightning belt from The Flash TV series).

In any case, hot damn! I can’t explain how happy I am. Thank you, Mattel and thank you Toyark.com for the great pics.
